“Like don’t put sapweed in your hair.”

They both laughed.

“There is something I have always thought would be fun to do with sunstones, but it’s sort of silly,” Phylo said.

“Yeah?”

“I’ve always wanted to make one of those spot lasers that you can point at stars.”

Seth grinned “Let’s do it. What else do we have to do?”

Once decided, they went through the store rooms and gathered what they needed: fabric pipes stiffened with sapweed, wire, glue, and fasteners. In fact, while they were at it, they picked up anything which looked interesting, any prop which might be used for the next “fun” project like magnets, sheets of coolstone in varying colors, spare electronic parts, and every other bit of this or that which attracted them. If nothing else, it would keep them busy figuring out what to do with the junk.

The time passed quickly as they collected stuff, chattering about crazy ideas and silly projects they wanted to build. As they unpacked their findings in the lab, they realized it was time to go to the evening meal.

Phylo’s stomach growled again at the thought of food. “Let’s not miss this one.”

“I can’t believe we spent the whole day gathering up junk to play with,” Seth said.

“Ah, but one man’s junk is another man’s research project.”

They chuckled all the way to the eating chamber.

As they walked, Phylo said, “We should make us a pair of personal-sized carts so we don’t have to walk to meals. I’m sure we could commandeer two tiny motors. Maybe we can make them so small they could fold up to carry in our pockets.”

“That, my friend, is the best idea you have ever come up with.” Seth slapped him on the back.
